Ukraine's President Volodymyr Zelensky has said that Ukraine has little chance of surviving without US assistance in the face of Russian aggression.
Volodymyr Zelensky made this statement in an interview on the US media outlet NBC's 'Meet the Press with Kristen Welker' program.
A short excerpt of Zelensky's interview was released on Friday. The full program will be broadcast on Sunday.
Speaking about the consequences of not receiving US assistance, Zelensky said in the interview, "It could be very, very, very difficult. Of course, every difficult situation brings an opportunity. But our chances are slim. The chances of survival without US support are quite slim."
Zelensky made the remarks after US President Donald Trump spoke by phone with him and Russian President Vladimir Putin earlier this week. Trump wants an immediate end to the war in Ukraine and wants to start diplomatic talks to that end.
Meanwhile, US Vice President JD Vance met with Volodymyr Zelensky on the sidelines of the Munich Security Conference in Germany. The two leaders discussed Russia's all-out offensive.
