A newly formed committee has been formed through the election of 'Madaripur Journalists Union', comprising journalists working in print and electronic media in Madaripur district. Sabbir Hossain Aziz, Madaripur district representative of Daily Asian Age, has been elected as the president of the new committee, and Farid Uddin Mupti, district representative of Banglavision TV and Dainik Samakal, has been elected as the general secretary.
Other members of the 17-member executive committee are Senior Vice President, Correspondent of Daily Sangbad Ashrafur Rahman Hakim, Vice President, District Correspondent of Daily Bhorer Kagoj Rezaul Karim Reza, Joint General Secretary-1 of Daily Ajker Darpan, Country To Day, Bangla FM District Correspondent Mir Mofizul Islam Imran, Joint General Secretary-2 jointly Jasim Uddin and Ferdaus Hossain, Organizing Secretary Ekushey TV and Correspondent of Daily Jawabdihi Rakibuzzaman, Co-Organizing Secretary Channel S and Correspondent of Alokot Pratidin Ibrahim Sabuj, Finance Affairs Secretary, Correspondent of Daily Desh Bangla Kajal Khan, Office Secretary, Correspondent of Sonali Khabor Mahfuz Khan, Publicity and Publication Secretary Shahadat Hossain, Sports Editor and Social Welfare Editor Saidur Rahman Shawkat, Catering and Entertainment Editor
Nazmi Akhter, staff reporter of the daily Bhorer Katha, and Tariqul Islam Ripon, religious, literary and cultural editor, have been elected. In addition, Nazmul Hossain has been elected as executive member-1, Raju Ahmed as executive member-2, and Khalilur Rahman has been elected as executive member-3.
On Saturday (February 15) afternoon, all members of the organization elected the executive committee for the next two years through voting in the conference room of the Madaripur Legal Aid Training Center.
The general secretary of the newly formed committee, Farid Uddin Mapti, said that the "Madaripur Journalists Union" has been formed with journalists from various print and electronic media working in Madaripur district. This organization will unite the fearless and hardworking journalists of the district and work together. The Journalists Union will become a symbol of trust for journalists working in the district.
Committee President Sabbir Hossain Aziz said, "'Madaripur Journalists Union' will work for the welfare of the society and the state. We will work together to uphold the spirit of the great Liberation War and build a new Bangladesh in 2024."
The organization's legal advisor, Adv. Mohammad Shahadat Hossain, served as the Chief Election Commissioner in the election. Also observing the election were Belal Rizvi, General Secretary of Madaripur District Journalists' Welfare Association and BSS District Representative, Adv. Mohiuddin Swapan, Adv. Sahadul Islam were present as Election Commissioners.
Senior journalist Subal Biswas, Madaripur district correspondent of Janakantha newspaper, announced the name of the new committee at the event. Everyone expressed hope that this new organization will earn a place of praise from everyone in Madaripur.
