Bahar Uddin, a cricket and football team player from the union, who was seriously injured in a terror attack at Aharkandi Bazaar in West Jaflong Union No. 2 of Gowainghat Upazila in Sylhet, is now on the verge of death.
According to the complaint, it is estimated that on the night of February 13, 08.00 At around 10:00 AM, on the paved road in front of Abdus Shahid's shop in Aharkandi Bazar under West Jaflong Union No. 02, former Chhatra League leader Siraj Uddaula Suman, a senior member of West Jaflong Union Jubo League and joint convener of Bir Muktijoddha Sontan Command Union Committee, randomly hit Bahar Uddin, a football player and cricketer from the neighboring village, with a wooden stick.
He was rushed to the Gowainghat Health Complex in a seriously injured condition, where the doctor on duty sent him to Sylhet MAG Osmani Medical Hospital. After medical admission, he also underwent a CT scan. His condition had not improved until the doctor wrote the report. Bahar's brother Farid Uddin has filed a complaint with the Gowainghat Police Station in this regard.
Farid Uddin said, "Sumon is a known rioter in the area. During the past fascist era, his father was a freedom fighter and he established a reign of terror in the union by posing as a Chhatra League and Jubo League leader."
No one would speak out against him out of fear. The incident has sparked anger among the people of the area. An immediate protest meeting was held at the local West Jaflong High School.
The speakers condemned the incident and gave the youth of the area a 24-hour ultimatum to arrest the accused Sumon. The leaders of the youth of the area said that a protest meeting will be held at Aharkandi Bazar tomorrow, Saturday after Maghrib. When accused Sumon tried to talk on his mobile phone, his mobile could not be connected.
