The final match of the “Arafat Rahman Coco Memorial Football Tournament” was held in the Anora-Kalimohar area of the Kalai Upazila Municipality of Joypurhat. This breathtaking final match was held at the Kalimohar ground on Friday (February 14) afternoon.
In the final, Talara Baiguni Junior Academy defeated Awara Tofail Football Academy team by a score of 2-0 to become the champions.
After the game, prizes were distributed among the winning and runner-up teams. Central BNP Co-Organizing Secretary Obaidur Rahman Chandan distributed the prizes as the chief guest. Also present at the event were Upazila BNP Joint Conveners Moudud Alam and Rafiqul Islam Chowdhury Tuku, Municipal BNP Convener Sajjadur Rahman Talukder Sohel, Joint Convener Abdul Alim Sarkar, Udaipur UP member Amjad Hossain and Thana Jubo Dal leader Russell Talukder, along with other local dignitaries.
Tournament organizing committee president Tanjirul Islam Rana said, "The field was filled to the brim with the presence of party leaders and activists as well as general spectators. We are organizing this event to encourage young people to play sports. We have plans to organize the tournament on a larger scale in the future."
The winning team is awarded a large goat as the first prize and the runner-up team is awarded a small goat, which adds extra joy to the players and spectators.
This event has received a huge response among football fans and more grand events are expected in the future.
