Bhurungamari (Kurigram) Representative:
A flag meeting was held between the BGB and BSF over the installation of CCTV cameras by the Indian Border Security Force (BSF) at the Bhurungamari border in Kurigram. In the face of the BGB's strong stance and strong protests, the BSF has assured to remove the CCTV cameras from the border.
On February 10, 2025, BSF members installed a CCTV camera facing Bangladesh on a eucalyptus tree near border pillar 978/9-S in the Dakshin Banshjani Jhaquatari area of Pathardubi Union under the Diyadanga BOP of 22 BGB Kurigram Battalion. After the matter came to their notice, BGB Kurigram Battalion Commander Lieutenant Colonel Muhammad Masudur Rahman called for a flag meeting with the BSF 162 Battalion Commander.
In continuation of this, a meeting was held at the BGB-BSF battalion commander level on the Bangladesh side near the Jora Mosque in Jhakuatari at 11 am on February 11. In the meeting, BSF Commander Shri Anil Kumar said that CCTV cameras were installed for the security of the Jora Mosque area located on the zero line. However, BGB Commander Lieutenant Colonel Muhammad Masudur Rahman strongly objected to the matter and demanded the immediate removal of the CCTV camera. Due to the strict stance of the BGB, the BSF assured to remove the camera.
In addition, the meeting also discussed the removal of tin structures built on the zero line, not building illegal paved structures within 150 yards of the border, and other issues related to the interests of both countries.
Due to the strong stance of the BGB, it has been possible to prevent any unilateral construction and surveillance attempts on the border. The concerned officials expressed hope that such activities will be prevented in the future by maintaining cordial relations between the border forces of both countries.
