Thousands of people living in the area have been suffering for a long time due to the lack of a road to enter Gazipur village in front of the custom house in Gazipur Ward No. 7 (Middle Para) of Benapole Municipality. Some influential families living in the area have built buildings and walls around the boundaries of their land without leaving any way for the people, leaving the residents of the area stranded. No bike, rickshaw, private car or microbus can go to this area. The people of this village travel on a narrow lane past two buildings, with water and dirt flowing underneath. Although the locals have approached various quarters several times to convert this lane into a road, no work has been done till date. The road, which used to be a walking path from the village to the main road, has been closed just three hundred yards away. The residents of the area say that they cannot hold any social events in our village.
We are facing various problems due to the lack of transportation. Mohammad Ali Madhu and Mohiuddin, residents of this village, said that there is no way out of our house. We travel through a narrow dirt lane with 200 families in this ward. Although we can cross this narrow lane in the dry season, during the rainy season there is knee-deep water, making it impossible to go at all.
In this regard, Benapole Municipality Engineer Mosharraf Hossain admitted the truth of the incident and said that there is no good road for the people of this area to travel. And since there is no road, the municipality cannot do any work. A road is desperately needed for the people of this area.
In this regard, the locals are seeking immediate intervention from the administration for a road.
