A flag meeting at the commander level was held between the BGB (Bangladesh Border Guard) and the BSF (Border Security Force) at the Fulbari border of Kurigram to maintain peace, order and security in the Bangladesh-India border areas. The meeting was held at 4.10 pm on Saturday (March 1) at the No Man's Land in the Indian Boskothal area next to the main pillar number 936 of the Kurusha Ferusha border in the upazila. The meeting ended at 6 pm.
According to BGB sources, the 7-member BGB delegation was led by Lalmonirhat 15 BGB Battalion Commander Lieutenant Colonel Shakil Alam. On the other hand, the 7-member BSF delegation was led by Indian 3 BSF Battalion Commander Raj Kumar. In this hour-and-a-half-long meeting, security, peace and order in the border area and regular issues were discussed in detail.
After the meeting, the BSF commander took the BGB commander to inspect the barbed wire fence installed in the border area. Lieutenant Colonel Shakil Alam said that a courtesy call was held with the new battalion commander of the BSF and routine discussions were held to maintain peace and order in the border areas of the two countries.
He added that such meetings are held regularly at the border of the two countries and it plays a helpful role in maintaining a peaceful environment at the border. The meeting was very fruitful and both sides agreed to work together to further strengthen border security and relations.
In addition, the meeting discussed border smuggling, illegal infiltration, human trafficking, and border security. Such meetings will play an important role in increasing mutual respect and cooperation in the border areas.
