Joypurhat District Representative
Thieves broke the boundary on the north side of the Arabic Specialized Cold Store in Kalai, Joypurhat, and entered the storage by cutting the lock of the machine room on the north side at night. They threatened everyone, including the operator assistant Md. Jewel, and injured Rafiqul Islam. Fearing that others might be injured, the organized thieves took away the valuable assets of the Arabic Cold Storage.
All the workers there were tied up with ropes, electric wires, towels, and lungis in Foreman Shajahan's room and the unknown thieves threatened to kill everyone by closing the door. Other unknown thieves entered the machine room of the cold storage and stole 1. 6 units of cooler motors estimated at 10,50,000/-(ten lakh fifty thousand) taka, 2. 2 vessel pump motors estimated at 2,60,000/-(two lakh ghat thousand) taka, 3. 4 compressor transformers estimated at 7,00,000/-(seven lakh) taka, 4. Copper electric wires estimated at 4,50,000/-(four lakh fifty thousand) taka, 5. 1 Discover 125 cc motorcycle estimated at 1,25,000/-(one lakh twenty five thousand) taka, 6. 7 mobile phones with an estimated value of 30,000/-(thirty thousand) taka belonging to the employees, 7. 1 computer set with an estimated value of 55,000/-(fifty-five thousand) taka, 8. 1 32-inch Walton LED TV with an estimated value of 26,000/-(twenty-six thousand) taka, 9. They broke the file cabinet dryer and desk dryer in the office room and stole 8,50,000/-(eight lakh fifty thousand) taka cash, totaling 35,46,000/-(thirty-five lakh forty-six thousand taka.
Later, under the overall guidance of Superintendent of Police, Joypurhat Mr. Muhammad Abdul Wahab, in a joint operation led by Additional Superintendent of Police (Sadar Circle), Joypurhat DB Police and Kalai Police Station, 04 accused of organized crime ring were arrested: 1. Md. Omar Sunny @ Sajib Mia (26), father-Md. Nazmul Hossain @ Nazmal, Sang- Jibanpur Dakshin Para, Thana-Shibganj, District-Bogra, 2. Md. Sohag Pramanik (27), father-Md. Obaidul Pramanik @ Fakira, Sang- Jibanpur Chakpara, Thana-Shibganj, District-Bogra, 3. Md. Shamim @ Sajib (30), father-Md. Ahmed Ali Pramanik, Sang-Lohagra, Thana-Sonatala, District-Bogra, 4. Md. Rabiul Islam (25), father-Md. Masud Pramanik, resident-Chargosai Bari, Thana-Sariakandi, District-Bogra, current address B-Block Kanaighat, Thana-Shahjahanpur, District-Bogra, were arrested and the following stolen items were recovered from their custody: 1. GLD button mobile 01, 2. Walton smart mobile 01, 3. Computer set 01, 4. Copper wire, 5. Tool box used in theft and a seizure list was prepared. The accused are being sent to the learned court and the police operation is continuing to arrest the other absconding accused and recover the remaining stolen items.
