Gaibandha Saghata Upazila Ulyabazar Merchants Association President Mahmud Hasan Dilu has been accused of demanding money in the name of settlement. On Tuesday evening, February 11, his nephew Sajahan Kabir Babu held a press conference on behalf of the victim.
At that time, he said, when my uncle Faruk Mia left his shop in Ulyabazar as per the two-year contract, he asked the shop owner Shafiqul Islam to return the deposit of 1 lakh 10 thousand taka, but he kept wasting time by making excuses. In such a situation, when the matter was taken to Ulyabazar Merchants' Association President Mahmud Hasan Dilu, he demanded 20 thousand taka, assuring a proper settlement of the deposit money. Later, although it was settled for 15 thousand taka, he took possession of the shop's furniture, including the ceiling, rake and ceiling fan, worth 30 thousand taka. When he wanted to return these furniture, his brother showed the influence of Union BNP convener Shawkat Mirza Rostam. At the press conference, the victim demanded that the furniture of his shop be properly returned and the money be returned in the name of settlement.
When asked about this, Mahmud Hasan Dilu, the president of the Merchants' Association, said that when Faruk Mia informed me about withdrawing the deposit money from the shop, I settled it fairly and withdrew 1 lakh 10 thousand taka. And the money claim against me or the sale of furniture is false and baseless. Out of the 15 thousand taka paid for settlement, 10 thousand taka has been deposited in the register book of the Merchants' Association Development Fund and the remaining 5 thousand taka was spent on sending the furniture to his house and paying the wages of 4 workers since Faruk Mia was ill.
