In the hilly district of Rangamati, Longadu, Rajnagar 37 BGB Zone has provided ducks, duck sheds, food and essential medicines to three helpless poor families to make them self-sufficient, as part of Border Guard Bangladesh's social development and humanitarian assistance.
This assistance was provided yesterday under the initiative of BGB Zone and under the guidance of Rangamati Army Region and under the overall supervision of Zone Commander Lt. Col. Nahid Hasan. Assistant Director Nazmul Hossain, along with other officers of the Zone, handed over fifty ducks, duck sheds, food and medical supplies to three families.
Zone Captain Nahid Hasan said, "It is our moral responsibility to stand by the poor families living in the remote mountains. We want them to be self-reliant and free from poverty. Such humanitarian assistance will continue in the future as well."
The beneficiary family expressed their joy after receiving the assistance. They said, "This initiative of BGB has brought new hope to our lives. We will get the opportunity to become financially self-reliant through duck farming."
According to sources from Rajnagar 37 BGB Zone, Border Guard Bangladesh is regularly taking such initiatives to make the poor families of the hill Bengali community living in the hills self-reliant. Their main goal is to ensure financial solvency by creating alternative employment opportunities.
Such a humanitarian initiative of the BGB has been widely appreciated locally and local conscious citizens have called for helping more families in this way in the future. Local public representatives, headmen, businessmen and other dignitaries were present at the event.
