Ahad, a student of Jagannath University who attempted suicide by hanging himself with a towel, has died. The deceased student, Ahad, was a student of the 2018-19 session of the university's Finance Department. He lived in Chittagong district.
He died while undergoing treatment at the capital's Dhanmondi Popular Hospital on Wednesday (February 19). Departmental teacher Professor Dr. Mashrik Hasan confirmed this information.
Professor Dr. Mashrik Hasan said that Ahad was undergoing treatment at the hospital. Doctors at Dhanmondi Popular Hospital declared him dead around 1 pm.
It is learned that earlier on Monday night, he attempted suicide by hanging himself with a towel in his rented mess house in Sutrapur area. Later, he was rescued and taken to Midford Hospital by the mess house's inmates. Later, he was transferred to Maxwell Private Hospital, where he was given oxygen in the ICU. When his condition deteriorated, he was sent to the capital's Popular Hospital from there.
Teachers and classmates in his department said he had been suffering from depression for a long time and had not been eating or drinking properly for the past few days.
