Police have arrested Md. Ismail (58), a former councilor of Chittagong City Corporation's South Kattoli Ward No. 11. He was arrested from the Lohar Pul area under Pahartali police station in the city around 2:30 pm on Friday (February 7).
Pahartali Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Mohammad Babul Azad confirmed the arrest. The arrested accused is Md. Ismail, son of the late Khalilur Rahman of Loharpul area under Pahartali Police Station. He was a former councilor of South Kattali Ward No. 11 and the president of Awami League.
Pahartali Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Md. Babul Azad said that the former councilor is an accused in several cases, including a murder case, during the anti-discrimination movement. He has been shown arrested in those cases.
He also said that he was sent to prison through the court after his arrest.
