Under the leadership of Manikganj's Shibaloy SI Suman Chakraborty, a joint force conducted Operation Devil Hunt in various places in Shibaloy and Uthuli unions of the upazila. On August 5, Shibaloy Union Awami League Vice President Md. Aslam Uddin (47), Uthuli Union Awami League Vice President Mohammad Abul Hossain (60) and Uthuli Union Awami League Advisory Board member Haji Mohammad Moktar were arrested based on a case filed in Paturia Ferry Ghat area of the upazila for attacking and vandalizing students and people protesting against discrimination.
The arrested are the deceased Islam Mandal of Choto Boali of the upazila, the deceased Ansar Ali Sarkar of the Katrasin area, and the son of the deceased Gokul Sheikh.
Md. Aslam Uddin, Mohammad Abul Hossain, Haji Mohammad Moktar, and member Groftar were arrested from their homes in Shibaloy and Uthuli unions of the upazila late on February 11. They were sent to jail by a learned court on Tuesday afternoon.
Confirming the matter, Shibaloy Police Station Officer-in-Charge ARM Al-Mamun said that Md. Aslam Uddin, Mohammad Abul Hossain and Haji Mohammad Moktar members have been arrested based on a case filed in connection with the attack and sabotage on anti-discrimination students and public in the Paturia Ferry Ghat area of the upazila on August 5. The operation to arrest the remaining accused will continue.
