A man named Babu Mia (35) was arrested by a mob with a pistol while attempting to commit a robbery in Singair, Manikganj. The other person who was with him managed to escape.
The incident took place on Sunday (February 9) at around 5 am in Chandannagar village of Jamirtta union of the upazila. After being arrested, the local people beat him up and handed him over to the police. The arrested Babu Mia is the son of Jamal Uddin of Bakchar village of Jamirtta union of the upazila.
According to local sources, two people entered the house of Sohrab Hossain in Chandannagar village of the upazila in the early hours of the morning. When Sohrab saw the incident, they tried to escape by threatening him with a pistol. At that time, Sohrab grabbed one of them and shouted, and people around came and arrested him. Later, a pistol was recovered from him. At that time, another member of the group escaped.
Singair Officer-in-Charge (OC) Md. Zahidul Islam Jahangir said that preparations for the case are underway at the police station in this regard.
