Police from Singair Police Station have arrested seven Awami League leaders and activists in an Operation Devil Hunt operation in Singair, Manikganj.
On Sunday (February 9) night, Singair Police, with the help of Savar Police Station in Dhaka, conducted a night-long raid in various areas of Savar in Dhaka district and arrested seven Awami League leaders and activists from different unions in the upazila.
The arrested are Abdus Samad (50), former Upazila Jubo League member, son of the late Billal Haji of Dhalla Madhpara village of Dhalla union of the upazila; Md. Amjad Hossain (45), former Upazila Jubo League office secretary, son of the late Hashem Ali of Bakchar village of Jarmitta union; Union Jubo League president, Md. Habibur Rahman Shibli (46), son of Abdur Rashid of Waiznagar village of Chandahar union; Union A'League publicity secretary and UP member, Md. Riyad Hossain (37), son of the late Nurul Islam of Ramchandrapur Dariarpara village of Jarmitta union; Md. Nurul Islam's son, Union A'League forest and environment affairs secretary, Md. Saiful Islam (40), Nazrul Islam Shajahan (49), joint general secretary and document writer of the Union A'League, son of the late Nazimuddin of Rajnagar village of Jarmitta union, and Md. Majnu Mia (54), former president of the ward A'League, son of the late Farman Ali of Dasherhati village of Charigram union.
Singair Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Md. Zahidul Islam Jahangir confirmed the matter and said that the arrested have been sent to court.
