A protest and human chain program was held demanding the removal of Sujaudula Lipton, the chairman of Bahagili Union Parishad in Kishoreganj, Nilphamari.
UP members and union residents held an hour-long program in front of the Upazila Executive Officer's office at 12 noon on Tuesday (February 11). They held the program to protest the chairman's various irregularities and corruption and the humiliation of UP members in front of the investigating officer.
Bahagili Union Jubo Dal General Secretary Mostafizur Rahman, UP member Khalilur Rahman Dablu, UP members Yahia Khan, Sadequl Islam, reserved female UP member Md. Tahmina Begum, union residents Md. Lal Mia, Monarul Islam, Alimul Islam, and others gave speeches at the human chain.
At that time, the speakers said, "The chairman embezzled all the money without working on various development projects by using the influence of the Jatiya Party. He built his own houses with bricks from the Hirim Board road. When we protested against his irregularities and corruption, the chairman attacked us with his terrorist forces. Although a complaint was filed regarding the attack, the police did not take any action. We demand the immediate removal of this corrupt chairman."
The locals, holding various placards, protested in the human chain and demanded the removal of the chairman within 24 hours. Otherwise, the protesters said that more stringent programs will be implemented.
