A tragic murder has taken place in Noakhali Sadar Upazila. A woman was hacked to death while praying inside the house of Ali Ahmed Chaprashi in Jalyal village of Binodpur union of Noakhali district around 9 pm on Monday.
The deceased was identified as Taslima Begum Rosy (60). She is the wife of Obaidul Haque of the village and their son Ziaul Haque Inu is the general secretary of Ward No. 5 BNP of Noakhali Municipality.
According to local sources, Rosie lived alone in a room in her father's house in the village. At around 9 pm, while she was praying with the door open, unknown persons entered her room, hit her on the head with a sharp weapon and fled.
Neighbors quickly reached the scene and rescued Rosie and took her to Noakhali General Hospital. However, doctors declared her dead upon arrival at the hospital.
Relatives said Rosie's house had been burglarized several times, and there were concerns about safety among locals. Police said they were investigating the incident and were conducting a search operation to identify the suspects.
The incident has cast a shadow of mourning over the area. Rosie's family members have demanded the swift arrest of her killers, and locals are counting on the administration to further improve security.
Noakhali police are currently continuing the investigation and working to find those involved in the murder.
