A fair price market has been inaugurated in Sadarpur Upazila of Faridpur on the occasion of the holy month of Ramadan.
The market was launched at 10 am on Monday (March 3) at the Balur field in front of Bishwa Zaker Manzil Government High School in Sadarpur Upazila, organized by the upazila administration.
It is reported that this market will run from 7 am to 12 pm throughout the month of Ramadan.
Sadarpur Upazila Executive Officer Zakia Sultana inaugurated the market.
Present at the event were Upazila Primary Education Officer Sadananda Pal, Assistant Rural Development Officer Sohrab Ali, General Secretary of the National Consumer Rights Protection Sadarpur Upazila Branch Prabhat Kumar Saha and many others.
A buyer who came to the market said, "I bought beef for 650 taka per kg and pangasius fish for 150 taka per kg. I was very happy to get fish and meat for 50 taka less per kg compared to other markets."
A vendor said, "The number of buyers in the market is very low. Sales are decreasing. If buyers don't come to the market, we will have trouble surviving."
As this market was launched, General Secretary of the National Consumer Rights Protection Sadarpur Upazila Branch, Prabhat Kumar Saha, said, "Taking such an initiative has been very good for the residents of the upazila. We hope that people will benefit at least to some extent."
Sadarpur Upazila Executive Officer Zakia Sultana said, "This fair price market has been organized during the holy month of Ramadan. As a result, the general public will be able to purchase their necessary goods at low prices."
