Md. Harun Ur Rashid, Staff Reporter,
During the seventeen years of the previous fascist Awami League government, no work was done for the welfare of any employees except transfers in BRDB. Field workers did not even receive salaries. We have completed almost ninety percent of the work after August 5, taking the applications of the employees, said AKM Monirul Haque Munir, president of the Rural Development Board Employees Union.
He said this at an employee rally organized by the Rural Development Board Employees Union B-1925, a member of the Nilphamari Workers' Party, at the city's Three Star Conference Room on Saturday (March 1/25) afternoon.
The president further said, "No one except RDO, ARDO and accountant gets salary in BRDB. Their salary arrangements have to be made first. We are working towards that goal. Also, for those who are not promoted, we have completed the regulations after August 5 and sent them to the ministry. We will always work to establish all your facilities."
He warned the members of the 1993 Workers' League, saying, "There is still time for you to speak up for the interests of the employees without spreading rumors against us."
Addressing the interim government, Munir said, "There is a need for reforms. The reforms you are talking about, the 31 points given by my leader, Deshnayak Tarique Rahman, are the reforms. So quickly announce the election roadmap. Because the people want elections now. These 31 points are a matter of political decision. The government that comes with the people's vote will carry out major reforms through them."
Nilphamari District Workers' Party President Nur Alam, General Secretary Jamiyar Rahman, Rural Development Board Employees' Union Central Committee Executive Member Barkat Ali, BRDB headquarters and field workers of six upazilas and workers' party leaders were present at the rally. At the end of the rally, the guests declared Nilphamari Rural Development Board Employees' Union President Nurjahan Parveen as the president.
