Asma Begum (40), headmistress of Rangardia Government Primary School in Sonapur Union of Saltha Upazila of Faridpur, was killed when her Mahindra car lost control and fell into a ditch while returning from school. Four others were injured in the incident. They have been admitted to the hospital. The accident took place in front of Kujurdia Madrasa at Chowrangi intersection on the Saltha-Faridpur regional road on Monday (February 24) afternoon.
The deceased, Asma Begum, is the wife of Fazlullah Al Azad, the headmaster of Ajalpatti Government Primary School in Nagarkanda. Their home is in Madhya Jagdia village of Nagarkanda upazila.
Confirming the death, Saltha Upazila Primary Teachers Association President Mainul Islam said, "Asma Begum, a teacher, was returning home from school in a Mahindra car to Faridpur city on Monday afternoon, as usual. On the way, the Mahindra car carrying her lost control in the Chowrangi intersection area and fell into a ditch. Asma was seriously injured."
He was later rescued and taken to Faridpur Medical College Hospital, where doctors declared him dead. Four other passengers of the Mahindra were injured in the incident. They have been admitted to Faridpur Medical College Hospital.
Kotwali Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Asaduzzaman said that police were sent to the scene after receiving information about the road accident. The body of the deceased has been recovered and sent to the morgue for autopsy.
