Shahjahan Ali Manon, Nilphamari District Representative:
Ordinary students have staged a protest march in Nilphamari demanding the maximum punishment for rapists and an end to all forms of terrorist activities.
A huge protest procession of students started from the central Shaheed Minar in Nilphamari town on Monday (February 24) afternoon. The procession circled the main roads of the town and ended at the Shaheed Minar. After that, a discussion meeting was organized there.

The meeting was addressed by Syed Mehedi Hasan Asik, convener of the Nilphamari Anti-Discrimination Student Movement, member secretary Alif Siddique Prantar, student representative Shrestha Sarkar, and others.
Speakers at the discussion said, "Incidents of rape, terrorism and irregularities are increasing in different parts of the country. We demand strict punishment for these injustices. Those involved in rape and terrorist activities must be given exemplary punishment. At the same time, action must also be taken against those who are trying to thwart the July coup and the interim government."
The speakers also said, "It is the government's responsibility to ensure the security of every citizen of the country. But in recent times, it has been seen that criminals are repeatedly escaping through the loopholes of the law. We want the maximum punishment to be implemented for rapists and terrorist activities to be strictly suppressed."
The program has seen widespread public support for the students' movement. They claim that if strict action is not taken against rape and terrorists as soon as possible, a larger movement will be launched.
