Gaibandha Correspondent:
Vehicles and pedestrians are having to risk their lives to cross a collapsed bridge in Palashbari, Gaibandha.
It was learned from the field visit that the bridge was constructed about 7 years ago under the Upazila Project Implementation Office at the mentioned location of the Kashiabari-Raniganj public road, which connects the Chaulduba and Poradah Beel rivers of the Badpara river on the Rishighat Karatoya river side of the Tengra-Badiakhali road in Kishoregari union of Palashbari upazila. Currently, due to the sagging and cracks in the middle of the bridge, pedestrians and vehicles have been having to cross it for a long time, risking their lives. The locals believe that a major accident can happen at any time.
In this regard, Babul Asad Sarkar of Kishoregari Union said, "The only way to go to the market in Raniganj, Dinajpur for buying and selling various goods and cattle and goats in this area is this Rishi Ghat road. Since long, the bridge has been crumbling and cracked, so various vehicles and pedestrians have to cross it at the risk of their lives. If the bridge is not repaired on an urgent basis, a major accident can happen at any moment," he said.
