A mobile court has fined a grocery shop named Khorshed Varieties Store in Brahmanpara, Comilla, for not maintaining a price list of daily necessities. The drive was conducted by the upazila administration at the upazila Sadar Bazar on Sunday (March 2) afternoon.
Executive Magistrate and Upazila Executive Officer (UNO) Mahmuda Jahan led the operation. Upazila Sanitary Inspector Parveen Sultana and a team from Brahmanpara Police Station assisted in the operation.
Executive Magistrate and Upazila Executive Officer (UNO) Mahmuda Jahan said that a drive was conducted to control the prices of daily necessities in grocery shops in Sadar Bazar of Brahmanpara Upazila. During this drive, traders were warned against illegal hoarding. During the drive, a grocery shopkeeper was fined Tk 1,000 for not having a price list.
In addition, strict instructions are given and supervision is given to not use any kind of color or burnt oil in the preparation of iftar items, and to prepare and cover iftar in a hygienic and clean environment.
In addition, to ease traffic congestion, some floating shops on the sidewalks on both sides of the road were removed and the rest were asked to be removed within the same day. They were warned that legal action would be taken if this happened again.
He said that such campaigns and supervision will continue to protect consumer rights.
