A seventh-grade schoolgirl was raped in Dimla, Nilphamari. Police arrested two youths accused in the incident and handed them over to the court on Saturday (March 1). Earlier, the rape incident took place in a corn field in Chatnai Balapara village of Balapara union of the upazila last Thursday. The arrested are Abdul Quddus (24), son of the deceased Lutfar Rahman of Chatnai Balapara village of Balapara union of the upazila, and Chamiul Islam (22), son of Nesar Uddin of Chatnai Dakshin Balapara village. The student's father has filed a case with Dimla police station as the plaintiff in this incident.
According to the case report, Chamiul used to talk to the student on his mobile phone. On the evening of the incident, Chamiul cleverly called the student on his mobile phone to meet him in a corn field near the student's house. As soon as Quddus, who was already lying there, saw the student, he grabbed her face and raped her with the help of Chamiul. Later, when the student's mother could not find the student at home, after searching the surroundings for a long time, she went to the corn field and felt his presence. Chamiul and Quddus left the student and fled. At that time, the local people rushed to the student's mother's screams and rescued the student and learned everything from her mouth. The next day, Friday, when the student's bleeding did not stop, the student was taken to the Upazila Health Complex. The doctor on duty there referred the student to Nilphamari General Hospital after providing primary treatment. She is currently undergoing treatment there. Meanwhile, when the incident came to light, the police arrested the accused Quddus and Chamiul was arrested. Later, the student's father became the complainant and filed a case number-1, dated 1/3/2025, under the Prevention of Violence against Women and Children Act, mentioning the names of the two arrested at Dimla Police Station.
Confirming the truth of the incident, Dimla Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Fazle Elahi said, "The student's father has filed a case in this incident, naming the two men as the plaintiff. We have arrested the two youths and handed them over to the court."
