Upazila Executive Officer Asif Al-Zinat has conducted market monitoring and mobile courts to keep the prices of daily necessities stable and tolerable during the holy month of Ramadan in the fields of Joypurhat.
The operation was conducted at 12 noon on March 1 (Saturday) in Itakhola Bazar and Battali Bazar of the upazila. During the operation, a total of 6,000 taka was collected from a bakery manufacturer through mobile court for various irregularities including not having a price list, not preserving receipts, selling adulterated and expired food products without BSTI approval, and another person was fined 3,000 taka for illegally dumping bricks on the road in violation of the Road and Township Act.
Among others present at the time were Upazila Agriculture Officer Zahidur Rahman, Sanitary Inspector Harunur Rashid of the Department of Consumer Rights Protection, Investigation Officer of Khetlal Police Station Shri Dipendranath Singh and Upazila Parishad C.A.S.M. Shawkat, among others.
Upazila Executive Officer Asif Al-Zinat said that fines have been collected from two establishments as part of the upazila administration's market monitoring activities to control commodity prices on the occasion of the holy month of Ramadan. This campaign will continue in the public interest.
