Shahjahan Ali Manon, Nilphamari District Representative:
A fire has gutted 20 houses in Nilphamari's Sadar Upazila. The fire broke out in Magura Para, a village near the border of Kachukata and Ramnagar unions, on Friday (February 28) afternoon.
Eyewitnesses said that in the afternoon, some people from the area were threshing rice with a rice threshing machine. But the threshing straw was being deposited in a pile of ash and cow dung. That is where the fire started.
Which spread in all directions within a short time. The houses of Safiyar Rahman, Shahidullah, Mashiur Rahman, Sirajul Islam, Santaz Hossain, and Abdul Mannan were burnt to ashes.
The families were unable to recover any of their rice, furniture, cash, or books from their homes. This resulted in a loss of approximately 3 million taka for these six families.
In this regard, Nilphamari Fire Service Station Officer Miraj Uddin said, "We reached the spot after receiving the information and brought the fire under control in about half an hour." He said the fire started from a rice threshing machine.
