Ujirpur Barisal Correspondent: A rally and procession was held at the Upazila Sadar on Friday, February 28 at 4 pm at the initiative of Ujirpur Upazila Jamaat Islam of Barisal district, demanding to maintain a tolerable level in the prices of daily necessities during the holy month of Ramadan and to protect the sanctity of Ramadan. The protest procession started from the Upazila Sadar head office of Jamaat Islam, circled the main roads of the Upazila and ended in front of the Upazila Auditorium.
At the protest meeting, chaired by Upazila Jamaat Islam Ameer Abdul Khalek and moderated by Upazila Secretary Md. Khokon Sardar, Barisal District Ulama Division President Hafez Md. Kausar spoke as the chief guest.
Municipal Jamaat-e-Islam Ameer Al-Amin Sardar, Municipal Secretary Hafez Baki Billah and others spoke.
At that time, speakers said that during Ramadan in the country, a group of greedy businessmen syndicated by creating an artificial crisis and increasing the prices of daily necessities many times over through illegal hoarding, are causing hardship to the hard-working common people and fasting people of the country.
All those syndicates must be broken and prices brought down to a tolerable level. At the same time, the demand for preserving the sanctity of the holy month of Ramadan must be raised.
