A discussion titled 'Accountability of Police Superintendent' was held with journalists from the district on various issues including the law and order situation in Moulvibazar, traffic management, drug and social crime prevention.
The meeting was held at 11 am today, Wednesday (February 26) in the meeting room of the Moulvibazar District Police Superintendent's office. District Police Superintendent M. K. H. Jahangir Hossain (PPM-Service) presided over it.
At the meeting, journalists raised questions on various issues including law and order in the district, price control during Ramadan, traffic management, drugs, extortion, and robbery.
At that time, the Superintendent of Police said, "Our goal is to build a discriminatory and safe society. Our main responsibility is to improve law and order and ensure services according to the needs of the people. Whoever the criminal is, even if he is a police officer, he will not be spared."
He also said, "It is not possible for the police alone to work to solve social problems including theft, robbery, drugs and mugging. We need to build a social movement with everyone."
The Superintendent of Police emphasized the need to further strengthen beat policing and community policing activities to curb smuggling, extortion and other crimes.
Journalists from Moulvibazar District and Upazila Press Club, as well as journalists from other online news portals and print newspapers, were also present at the exchange of views.
Apart from this, Additional Superintendent of Police (Sadar Circle) Md. Ajmal Hossain, District Special Branch DIO-1 Abu Hussain and Moulvibazar Sadar Police Station Officer-in-Charge Gazi Mahbubur Rahman along with other police officials were also present in the meeting.
It is hoped that this exchange of views will further strengthen the transparency and accountability of the police.
