A mobile court has fined the owner of a brick kiln in Kamalganj Upazila of Moulvibazar Tk 20,000 and destroyed raw bricks for not having a clearance from the Department of Environment and violating the Brick Manufacturing and Kiln Establishment Act.
The raid was conducted at a brick kiln named SKB Bricks in Patan Ushar Union of the upazila on Wednesday (February 19) afternoon. The mobile court was conducted by Assistant Commissioner and Executive Magistrate of the Deputy Commissioner's Office Md. Sohag Milu. At that time, Assistant Director of the Moulvibazar Office of the Department of Environment Md. Maidul Islam. In addition, members of the police, fire service and civil defense were present.

According to the mobile court sources, the brick kiln named SKB Bricks was fined for violating Sections 4 and 5 of the Brick Manufacturing and Kiln Establishment Act 2013, amended by 2019, and the Department of Environment Conservation Act 1995. Apart from this, it does not have a clearance from the Department of Environment and the district administration.
Assistant Director of the Moulvibazar Office of the Department of Environment, Md. Maidul Islam, said that the Department of Environment has imposed fines for violating the Conservation Act and also destroyed raw bricks. The brick kiln operations have been stopped immediately.
Assistant Commissioner and Executive Magistrate Md. Sohag Milu said that the fines were imposed for violating the brick making and kiln installation laws.
