A father and son died in a road accident in Nazirpur, Pirojpur. The accident occurred on Monday (February 17) morning at Ruhitlabunia in Nazirpur upazila of Pirojpur on the Pirojpur-Dhaka highway.
The deceased were identified as Mahabub Molla (45), son of Halim Molla, of Chalitabari village in Nazirpur upazila of the district, and his son Yat Molla (15). According to family sources, the injured were taken to Khulna for better treatment, but they died that afternoon before being taken to the hospital.
Nazirpu Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Md. Mahmud Al Farid Bhuiyan confirmed the news of the father-son death and said, "I have heard about the incident. Police have been sent there, policing activities are ongoing. We have not received any complaints in this regard here either."
Nazirpur Upazila Health Complex Health and Family Planning Officer Dr. Md. Mashiur Rahman said that the condition of the three seriously injured people is critical and they have been sent to Khulna for better treatment.
Locals said that on that morning, a Dhaka-bound Imad Paribahan bus lost control and hit a battery-powered van from behind. Three people in the van were seriously injured. Two more people were also injured. The condition of three of them was critical, so the locals rescued them and sent them to the Upazila Health Complex for treatment.
