Two farmers were electrocuted to death in Chattarkandi village of Bajitkhila union in Sherpur. The accident occurred around 8 am on Wednesday (February 12) when they inadvertently went to work without turning off the power line.
The deceased were identified as Mohammad Akram Hossain, son of the late Abdul Latif of Chattarkandi village in Sadar upazila, and agricultural worker Hanif Uddin, son of the late Samej Uddin.
According to police and local sources, around 8 am on Wednesday, when farmer Akram Hossain and farm worker Hanif Uddin went to connect an irrigation line, Akram Hossain got entangled in an electric wire. Later, when farm worker Hanif Uddin went to rescue him, he himself got entangled in the electric wire, killing both of them on the spot.
Mohammad Zubaidul Alam, officer-in-charge of Sherpur Sadar Police Station, confirmed the truth and said that a UD case has been filed at the police station in this regard.
