The upazila administration has seized an excavator (VEKU) for cutting soil from agricultural land in violation of the administration's ban in the area adjacent to Kaliganj Belai Bill in Gazipur.
According to the upazila administration, on February 20, Upazila Assistant Commissioner (Land) and Executive Magistrate Noori Tasmin Urmi conducted a drive and ordered to stop the operation on the grounds that soil was being cut from agricultural land adjacent to Belai Bill in Shimulia area of the upazila without any permission, violating the ban of the upazila administration. The soil-digger gang continued cutting soil despite the ban. Based on such information, a joint operation was conducted on Tuesday at around 11 am under the leadership of Upazila Executive Officer (UNO) and Executive Magistrate Tanima Afrad and Assistant Commissioner (Land) and Executive Magistrate Noori Tasmin Urmi. During the operation, the members of the soil-digger gang fled after abandoning the excavator (Veku). Later, the soil-digger machine (Veku) was seized and taken into police custody.

In this regard, Upazila Executive Officer (UNO) and Executive Magistrate Tanima Afrad said, after receiving complaints of soil cutting again in agricultural land adjacent to Belai Bill, the upazila administration conducted a mobile court. When no culprit was found during the mobile court operation, an excavator (Veku) was seized from the scene and given to the custody of OC Kaliganj. Before this, the Assistant Commissioner of Land had conducted a drive for the first time on February 20 and stopped the soil cutting work. The work of the mobile court to stop the soil cutting will continue.
