Two skeletons were stolen from a grave in Kumarkhali, Kushtia. A group of thieves stole the two skeletons from the Paharpur-Nurpur graveyard in Chapra union of the upazila late on Monday night. News of the theft of skeletons has spread across the area.

The skeletons of those who were stolen are Chara Khatun (85), wife of the deceased Abdus Sattar of Paschim Nagar Santa village in Chapra union of the upazila, and his grandson Ratul (14).
According to police and local sources, Chara Khatun, wife of the deceased Abdus Satta of Paschim Nagar Santa village in Chapra union of the upazila, died of old age about two years ago. A month after her death, her grandson Ratul died. He is the son of Monir Uz Zaman. Ratul was born with a physical disability. The bodies of both of them were buried side by side. Today, Tuesday, after the Fajr prayers, Chara Khatun's son Raisul Biswas came to visit the grave and saw a well-like hole dug between the graves of his mother and nephew. An eager crowd gathered at the cemetery. They saw two pieces of bone and a tow truck lying in the nearby corn field. Upon receiving the news, police officers from the police station inspected the scene.
Raisul Biswas said, "After Fajr prayers, I visited my mother's grave and found that the graves of my mother and nephew had been dug up. There was nothing inside. Their skeletons had been stolen. When I reported the matter to the police, they came and are investigating. I want strict justice for those involved in this theft."
Motahar Uz Zaman said, "This is the first time in our area that the skeletons of two bodies have been stolen from a cemetery. Panic has spread throughout the area. This has also scared the relatives of other bodies buried in this cemetery." He demanded increased security in the cemetery area.
Kumarkhali Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Solaiman Sheikh said that the police of the police station inspected the scene after receiving news of the skeleton theft.
Initially, it is believed that the skeleton was stolen. Two pieces of bone and some tools were also seized from the scene. However, no one has filed a complaint with the police station in this incident. However, the police are investigating the incident.
