Two motorcycle riders were killed in a truck accident in Jaintapur, Sylhet. The deceased were identified as Delwar Hossain (24), son of the late Ali Ahmed of DBir Haor village in Jaintapur upazila, and Md. Tofail (26), son of Hasan Ali of Agfoud Panch Seuti village.
The accident took place at Katagang in Jaintapur upazila on Sunday (February 23) afternoon. Another rider was seriously injured in the incident.
According to Highway Police sources, three riders were riding a motorcycle on the Sylhet-Tamabil highway towards Jaintapur Sadar at 2 pm on Sunday. When they reached a place called Katagang, the motorcycle collided with a freight truck. At that time, two motorcyclists were killed on the spot.
Sabbir Ahmed (32), son of Jalal Ahmed of Birakhai area of the upazila, who was injured in the incident, has been admitted to Sylhet MAG Osmani Medical College Hospital.
Tamabil Highway Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Mohammad Habibur Rahman confirmed the matter and said that upon receiving the information, the Highway Police Station team, with the help of locals, recovered the bodies and the injured and brought them to Jaintapur Upazila Health Complex. Later, Nabai was sent to Osmani Hospital.
