Two people riding an auto-rickshaw and a motorcycle were killed and six others injured when a microbus hit them in Sherpur. The accident occurred late on Saturday night, February 22, at the Ashtamitala intersection near the city's police line.
The two deceased motorcycle riders were identified as Gaurab and Roni. Both were employees of the city's Color Digital Lab. The lab's owner, Shuvo, was first sent to Mymensingh Medical College Hospital in a seriously injured condition and then to Dhaka Medical College Hospital this morning.
Police and locals said that around 12:30 am on Saturday, a microbus was speeding from Sherpur town to Jamalpur. On the way, it first hit a battery-powered auto-rickshaw at the Ashtamitala intersection. At that time, the microbus lost control and hit a motorcycle and an auto-rickshaw. A person named Roni died on the spot. Another person named Gaurab died when the injured were rescued and taken to the hospital.
Apart from this, a person named Shuvo has been sent to Mymensingh Medical College Hospital as his condition is serious. Immediately after the accident, the passengers in the microbus, including the driver, fled. The police have seized the microbus.
Sadar Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Mohammad Zubaidul Alam confirmed this information to the media and said that necessary legal action is being taken in this incident.
