Abdur Rashid Rokon (45), who was injured in a motorcycle robbery incident in Sharsha, Jessore, has died while undergoing treatment. He died on the way to Dhaka Medical College Hospital around 12 am on Friday.
Rokonuzzaman's brother-in-law Ruhul Amin said that on the day of the incident, the injured Rokon was rescued by locals and first admitted to the Sharsha Upazila Health Complex. Later, when his condition deteriorated, he was admitted to Jessore Sadar Hospital. He was under treatment there for two days. On Friday evening, when his physical condition deteriorated, he was first taken to Dhaka Square Hospital for better treatment. However, when he was not admitted there, he died shortly after 12 midnight on the way to Dhaka Medical College Hospital.
Meanwhile, when the body reached the village home, Baganchra, on Saturday morning, the air in the area became heavy with the wailing of relatives. Later, Sharsha Police Station recovered the body and sent it to Jessore Sadar Hospital morgue for autopsy.
It is worth mentioning that on the afternoon of February 19, Abdur Rashid alias Rokon of Baganchra village was going from Navaran Bazar to Baganchra on a motorcycle after collecting money owed by his brother-in-law Ruhul Amin from his feed business. On the way, the robbers stopped them, cut them off and stole 8 lakh 55 thousand taka.
After the incident, the Sharsha police station conducted a raid and arrested two people named Hridoy and Faisal. Later, with the help of the Detective Branch (DB), two other accused, Tariqul and Rabbi, who had escaped, were also arrested. The stolen Tk 8 lakh 3 thousand was recovered in the police raid and the accused were handed over to the court.#
