In Kamalganj, Moulvibazar, a son-in-law, Konai Shabdkar (30), was allegedly beaten to death by neighbors with sticks after he came to his in-laws' house over a quarrel with his children. Konai Shabdkar is the son of Boji Shabdkar of Moidail village in the same union.
The incident took place in Dhiteshwar village of Munshibazar union of the upazila on Monday (February 10) night. Police have arrested two people in this incident. The arrested are Sushil Shabadkar and his son Sumit Shabadkar of Dhiteshwar village. Munshibazar Union Parishad Chairman Nahid Ahmed Tarafdar confirmed the incident. Locals said that Kanai Shabadkar went to visit his in-laws. Last Monday, during the day, there was a fight between Kanai Shabadkar's children and the children of a neighbor. That night, people from the neighboring house indiscriminately beat up the people from Kanai's in-laws' house over the children's fight. At that time, Sushil Shabadkar and his son Sumit Shabadkar beat and injured Kanai with sticks. Later, locals took Kanai to the hospital in serious condition, where the doctor on duty declared him dead.
Kamalganj Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Syed Iftekhar Hossain said that locals have arrested the two killers and handed them over to the police. The body was sent to Moulvibazar Hospital morgue for autopsy on Tuesday morning. Preparations for a case are underway in this incident. Meanwhile, a crime scene team led by Police Bureau of Investigation (PBI) Moulvibazar OC Hillol Roy visited the scene on Tuesday morning (February 11) and started an investigation.
