A sudden fire broke out in the hilly land and Lawachhara forest of Head Bangladesh in Kamalganj, Moulvibazar. After the fire broke out at 1 pm on Wednesday (February 26), forest workers and fire service members put out the fire at around 4:30 pm after about 3 and a half hours of effort. It is initially estimated that about two acres of land has been burnt in the fire.
It is known that the fire broke out in the hilly land west of Head Bangladesh at noon. Later, the fire spread to the Lawachhara forest. About 2 acres of the hilly land and Lawachhara forest of Head Bangladesh were burnt in the fire. Later, local residents, forest workers and fire service members brought the fire under control after about three and a half hours of effort. Locals said that someone deliberately set fire to the forest. In this fire, forest animals started running away in fear. Many animals died, their habitats were destroyed. In addition, the trees and shrubs of the forest were burnt. Kamalganj Fire Service and Civil Defense Leader Md. Farukul Islam confirmed the truth of the incident and said, we were able to bring the fire under control after about three and a half hours of effort.
In this regard, Lawachara Forest Range Officer Nazmul Islam said, "First, the fire broke out in the area of Head Bangladesh. Later, the fire burned about an acre of Lawachara forest. Forest workers and fire service members came and brought the fire under control. It is not yet known how the fire started."
