Lakshmipur Correspondent: A workshop on gender-sensitive and inclusive village courts was held on February 24 (Monday) at the Lakshmipur District Commissioner's conference room throughout the day.
Organized by the Bangladesh Village Court Activation Phase 3 Project, the workshop was chaired by Deputy Director of the Local Government Department, Md. Jasim Uddin, and was attended by Additional Superintendent of Police Rezaul Haque, Assistant Commissioner Local Government Branch, Sajida Akhter Shuchan, Gender Analyst of the Bangladesh Village Court Activation Phase 3 Project, Shamima Akhter Shammi, District Manager Khandakar Md. Abed Ullah, among others. The workshop was attended by chairmen of various union parishads, officials of various government departments at the district and upazila levels, members of law enforcement agencies, journalists and other government and non-government departments and employees.
The workshop discussed various topics including introduction to the project, concepts about village court laws and services, gender-sensitive and inclusive village courts, and the role of participants in activating village courts and raising awareness.
