The biennial election of the Ranishankail Press Club has been completed. Ashraful Alam, Upazila Correspondent of Daily Inkilab, has been elected as the President, Khurshid Alam Shaon, General Secretary of Daily Dinkaler, and Ismam Ahmed, Correspondent of Daily Dhaka Times, has been elected as the Joint Secretary.
Voting for the three posts of president, secretary and joint secretary was held at the Press Club auditorium from 10 am to 12 noon on Thursday.
Those elected unopposed to other positions are Vice President Masud Rana Palak (BTV), Finance and Office Secretary Ziaur Rahman (Jayzaydin), Publicity Secretary Sabuj Islam (Daily Ganamanusher Awaaz) and Executive Member Anwar Hossain Akash (Daily Amader Somoy), Anwar Hossain Jibon (Daily Naya Diganta), Abdullah Al Noman (Daily Janakantha).
The presiding officer in the election was Upazila Social Service Officer Abdur Rahim, the assistant presiding officer was Social Service Union Officer Manik Liton, and the polling officer was Assistant Syeda Rehena Parvin.
The election conveners were Chobi Kanta Deb (correspondent of Dainik Sangbad newspaper), AK Azad (correspondent of Manabadhikar Pratidin) and Nazmul Hossain (correspondent of Dainik Ajker Darpan newspaper).
The election was observed by Upazila Executive Officer Rakibul Hasan, Thana Officer Inarzach Moh:Arshedul Haque, Youth Development Officer Abdus Samad Pradhan and various political and social leaders.
