Our 400-year-old city of Dhaka, which has become known as the capital of Bangladesh, is now in a serious crisis. Due to the pressure of 20 million people, the city has lost its livability, and due to the environment, air pollution, and traffic congestion, Dhaka is currently at the bottom.
In this situation, the country's Economic Restructuring Task Force has proposed shifting the capital. According to them, the current situation in Dhaka has become a major obstacle to the country's development. On January 30, Planning Advisor Professor Wahiduddin Mahmud handed over the task force's report to Chief Advisor Dr. Md. Yunus.
Among the recommendations in the report was the relocation of the capital Dhaka. In addition, they recommended making the process of buying a car more difficult, while also facilitating easier car purchases.
After such a proposal, discussions may begin between the government and the relevant authorities, but no final decision has been made yet.
