Former State Minister for Energy, former President of Mymensingh South District BNP, late AKM Mosharraf Hossain, organized a cricket tournament in memory of Muktagachha Upazila Volunteer Party member secretary Sayeed-uz-Zaman Sayeed. As an example of building a donation-free society, he organized this tournament at his own expense. Youth leader Mithu Chakraborty supervised the overall event. The final match of this tournament was held on Friday.
Mymensingh South District BNP Convener Md. Zakir Hossain Bablu was present as the chief guest. Special guests and others included Municipal BNP General Secretary Murshiduzzaman Khan Saiful, Upazila BNP Joint Convener Jahangir Hasan, District BNP Former Office Secretary Yusuf Ali, South District Jubo Dal Vice President Nur-e Hasanuzzaman Sohag, Joint Organizing Secretary Obaidur Rahman Tutul, student leaders Arif, Asad Faraji, Rajib MIA, etc.
At the award ceremony, the chief guest Zakir Hossain Bablu said, "AKM Mosharraf Hossain Sahib was a beloved leader of all. This was organized in his memory by two young sports organizers. I thank them for remembering his deeds. The fascists had killed the game for 17 years. Since then, in the newly independent era, the game is now being played in all unions with the help of BNP, Jubo Dal, and Chhatra Dal leaders. We will continue this trend at any cost."
The organizer of the game said, "In addition to building a beautiful society and prosperous upazila in Muktagachha free of extortion, we want to give great importance to sports along with social activities here. Carrying that importance, BNP Acting Chairman Tarique Rahman is giving the most importance to sports, thinking about the youth and the young generation of Bangladesh. There is a need for multiple tournaments to keep the youth free of drugs, including this tournament. Through which we want to build a healthy society in this upazila."
He also said that during the Awami Fascist regime in the past 17 years, they kept the youth away from sports. In the first innings of the game, Brahmaputra Express scored 149 runs for the loss of 8 wickets in 14 overs. In response, in the second innings, Madhupur Friends Forever scored 146 runs for the loss of 9 wickets in 14 overs. Brahmaputra Express won the championship by 2 wickets. Abhi was the man of the match. Ashiq and Rumel won the awards for the highest wicket and highest run scorer of the tournament.
