A clash and bomb attack took place between two BNP factions over a dispute over land in the rural areas of Benapole Port Police Station in Jessore. Five BNP leaders and activists were injured during the incident.
The incident took place at 12 noon on Saturday in Balunda village of Benapole Port police station. At that time, 10 to 12 hand bombs were detonated.
The injured are Irfan Ali (35), son of Ombat Ali of Balunda village, Abuzar (23), son of Sultan Mallik, Mokarul (8), son of Abdul Gani, Abu Siddique (45), son of Tahazzat Morol, and Jalal Uddin (32), son of Put.
It is learned that on Saturday morning, a dispute over land was being resolved between Ahid Biswas and Fazlu Biswas of Balunda Uttar Para. At that time, supporters of Benapole's Putkhali Union BNP Senior Vice President Kamrul and Balunda Ward No. 5 BNP President Kabirul got into a clash. At that time, several hand bombs exploded, injuring 5 Kabirul supporters. Later, they were rescued and 2 of them were admitted to Sharsha Upazila Health Complex and the rest were sent home after receiving primary treatment.
Benapole Port Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Russell Mia confirmed the incident and said that when the two sides started chasing each other, the police went and dispersed them. Police are deployed at the spot. The situation is under control of the police. No complaint has been received at the police station in this incident.
