On the occasion of Amar Ekushey and International Mother Language Day, the BNP of Baganchra Union in Sharsha, Jessore, paid deep tribute to the martyrs of the historic language movement.
On Friday (February 21) morning, a condolence rally led by Jahangir Hossain, executive member of Sharsha Thana BNP and general secretary of Bagh Anchra Union BNP, circumambulated various important places in the market and paid tribute by placing wreaths at the Central Shaheed Minar of the secondary school.
Earlier, he hoisted the national and party flags in front of the party office along with the leaders to the tune of the historic song 'Amar Bhaiyer Rokte Rangano Ekushey February...Ami Ki Bhulite Pari', sung by Amar Ekushey.
On this day in 1952, to commemorate the supreme sacrifice of the language martyrs, these people, carrying flowers in their hands and humming the tune of 'Ekushey February, dyed with my brother's blood', paid their respects and laid wreaths at the Shaheed Minar barefoot, and prayed for the forgiveness of the souls of the language martyrs.
Present at the event were Upazila BNP Vice President Jamal Uddin, Joint Organizing Secretary Anwar Hossain Babu, Self-Reliance Affairs Secretary Mikail Hossain Mona, Information and Research Affairs Secretary Monayem Hossain, Upazila Krishak Dal Organizing Secretary Anwar Hossain Bablu, Youth Party Joint Convener Kabir Hossain, Volunteer Party Joint Convener Touhidul Islam Touhid, Bagachra College Chhatra Dal President Mohidul Islam Mohid, and leaders of BNP and its affiliates.
