A housewife named Hawa Begum (48) committed suicide by hanging herself from the ceiling of her house with a piece of cloth in Sadarpur, Faridpur.
The incident took place at around 10 pm on Monday (September 24) in Dakshin Shauldubi village in Krishnapur union of the upazila. The deceased housewife is the wife of Turab Biswas of Dakshin Shauldubi village.
According to local and police sources, Turab Biswas had a good relationship with his wife. There was no family problem between them, even the husband, wife and his daughter ate together last night. After eating, Turab Biswas went to a tea shop in the Moyna Bazar area next to the house for tea. When Turab came home and called his wife to open the door of the house, he did not hear any sound from inside and saw through the window that his wife had committed suicide by hanging herself from the ceiling of the house. Seeing his wife hanging, he shouted for help, and the people around came and broke the door of the house and took out Hawa Begum's body. After that, the locals informed the Sadarpur police station, the police went to the spot, prepared the post-mortem report of the body and sent it to the Faridpur Medical College Hospital morgue for autopsy.
In this regard, Sadarpur Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Abdul Motaleb said, "The deceased Hawa Begum had been suffering from mental illness for a long time. She would occasionally leave home without telling anyone. It is initially believed that she may have committed suicide by hanging herself from the ceiling of her house while suffering from mental illness." Upon receiving the information, we went to the spot, recovered the body and sent it to Faridpur Medical College Hospital for autopsy.
