They left the residence of the chief advisor in front of the Jamuna at around 1:45 am on Sunday. Earlier, they had protested in front of the Jamuna at around 12:15 am demanding seven points, including good medical treatment, rehabilitation and state recognition.
Around 1:45 am, Hasnat Abdullah, convener of the anti-discrimination student movement, told reporters in front of the Jamuna that she would discuss the demands of the injured with the government.
The demands of the injured will be met only by the interim government, not by any other government.
After the convener of the anti-discrimination student movement made such an assurance, the injured protesters left the road in front of the Jamuna.
Earlier, they protested on Mirpur Road in Agargaon and Shyamoli throughout the day on Sunday. After leaving that road, they marched towards the residence of the chief advisor on Minto Road in the evening.
When they reached the Intercontinental Hotel in Shahbagh at 7:45 pm, the police stopped them. They then took up residence there.
Aminul Islam, one of the protesters, told the media that they broke through the police barricade in front of the Intercontinental Hotel around 12:45 am and took up position near the residence of the chief advisor. He said that they will remain there until their demands are met. Hasnat Abdullah, the convener of the anti-discrimination student movement, went to the residence of the chief advisor around 12:15 am. He tried to convince the protesters. However, he could not speak due to the shouting and commotion of the protesters. At that time, the leaders who were with Hasnat Abdullah tried to calm them down.
The protest began on Saturday evening. The injured people who were undergoing treatment at the National Institute of Ophthalmology in the July Movement started the protest that evening with various demands including better medical treatment abroad, rehabilitation and state honors by the Ministry of Liberation War Affairs. At one stage in the night, they blocked the Agargaon road. Yesterday morning, they were joined by people undergoing treatment at Pangu Hospital (National Orthopaedic Hospital and Rehabilitation Institute-NITOR). Some of the injured people who were undergoing treatment at various hospitals, including the CRP in Savar, participated in the protest.
Other demands of the protesters include providing government housing or accommodation for the July Movement fighters, issuing them identity cards and ration cards; providing government jobs according to their qualifications; including women fighters in the state special declaration; providing free air, rail and bus travel, avoiding customs duties on vehicle purchases, and allowing them to use state guest houses by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
