A housewife named Prabitri Debnath (30) has died mysteriously in Jaldhaka, Nilphamari. Her husband and in-laws are absconding since the incident. The sensational incident took place at around 9:30 pm on Monday (February 24) in Nath Para, Khedkati Bazar area of Dharmapal Union of the upazila.
The deceased, Prabitri Debnath, is the daughter of Sudin Debnath, a resident of Jaldhaka Upazila Municipality. Her husband, Parimal Debnath (34), is the son of Bijoy Debnath of the same area. Parimal Debnath and her father Bijoy Debnath have been absconding since the incident.
According to local sources, 'There had been a long-standing family feud between the husband and wife. However, Poppy Rani was being tortured and tortured in various ways for the past three days. She was brutally tortured while fasting on Ekadashi. At one stage of the torture, when it was seen that Poppy was on the verge of death, poison was poured into her mouth. Later, a drama was staged to take her to Rangpur Hospital to prove the incident as suicide. However, everything was a premeditated murder.'
Dharmapal Union ward member Md. Yunus Ali confirmed the incident and said, "He came here from his father's house three days ago. Since then, there had been a family dispute between the husband and wife. However, if this murder happened due to a family dispute, then we strongly demand the administration to ensure strict punishment for the culprits."
Jaldhaka Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Arju Md. Sajjad Hossain said, "The body has been recovered from the scene and sent to the morgue of Nilphamari Sadar Hospital for autopsy. Initially, it is believed that this was a planned murder. However, the exact reason will be known after receiving the autopsy report. The case is under process. Further legal action will be taken once a case is filed."
