The Dharabahar Nalibari Youth Society organized a cricket tournament in the Nalibari area of Dharabahar, Ekmail, Golapganj Upazila. A total of 32 teams participated.
After a long competition, Fahim Phulkali Fighters achieved the glory of becoming champions through a great performance, while the runners-up were Umar & Sunny Riders Dattarail.
The fierce competition between the two teams in the final match on Thursday, February 6, created excitement among the spectators, and a large crowd of local spectators could be seen around the field.
The tournament was graced by the chief guest, eminent writer and journalist Anwar Shahjahan. Special guests included social worker and businessman Russell Ahmed, teacher Bijoy Kapali of British Ideal International School, and Sylhet correspondent of Ameer Pratidin Imran Ahmed.
In his speech as the chief guest, Anwar Shahjahan said, "Such sports competitions create unity and brotherhood in the society. Sports are essential not only for physical fitness but also for increasing mental strength and self-confidence. I thank the organizers for this beautiful event and congratulate the champion team for their success."
He added, "It is very important for the youth to be involved in sports. It strengthens them physically and mentally and gives them the strength to take the country forward in the future."
The entire area becomes festive during the tournament, with locals and sports fans enjoying exciting matches throughout the day.
Youth leader Sultan Mahmud Shuvo was on the commentary side of the game, while Hanif Mahmud and Shafi Ahmed were on the umpires' side.
Among others present at the game were local teachers Mislaur Rahman, Gaus Uddin, expatriates Mamun Ahmed, Masum Ahmed, Abu Bakr, Salman Ahmed, and others.
