An anti-drug debate competition and seminar were held in Comilla to create awareness among students against drugs.
The event was organized by the Comilla District Office of the Narcotics Control Department in collaboration with the Dhvoni Awrit School and the Comilla Residential College Debate Team at the Comilla Residential College auditorium in the city on Monday afternoon.
In this, the debate teams of classes 11th and 12th at the Residential College participated in a debate for and against the topic "Proper implementation of the law is the key to drug control."
The program was presided over by Md. Abdul Hannan, Principal of Comilla Residential College.
Chowdhury Imrul Hasan, Deputy Director of the Narcotics Control Department, Comilla District Office, was present as the chief guest.
Sports and cultural personality Badrul Huda Jenu was present as the special guest.
Sharif Ahmed, a lecturer in the ICT department of Comilla Residential College, served as the moderator for the debate competition.
The judges were Badrul Huda Jenu, president of the Abritt Jote and renowned orator, Mahtab Sohel, principal of Dhwani Abritt School Comilla, and Rumana Rumi, general secretary of Dhwani Abritt Charchakendra Comilla.
Present were Jahangir Alam Imrul, President of the Comilla Heritage, along with teachers and students of the college and officials from various levels of the Narcotics Control Department.
In the discussion held later, the guests discussed the harmful effects of drugs and how to recover from them.
At the event, more than two hundred students took an oath to eradicate drugs by displaying red cards against drugs. Finally, geometry boxes, scales, notebooks, and pens with the harmful effects of drugs written on them were distributed among the students.
