Vice-president of Sarishabari Press Club in Jamalpur, upazila correspondent of Daily Ittefaq and My TV, lyricist and poet of Bangladesh Betar A. S. M. Zulfiqur Rahman (64) has passed away (Inna lillahi wa inna ilaihi rajiun).
He breathed his last at around 12:00 am on Thursday (February 13) at a private hospital in the capital after suffering a heart attack. He is survived by his two wives, two sons and three daughters, and numerous relatives and admirers.
His funeral was held at Gana Maidan at 2 pm on Friday (February 14). Before the funeral, District BNP Deputy Office Secretary Zahurul Islam Pintu, District Press Club President Fazle Elahi Makam, Sarishabari Press Club Senior Vice President MA Rouf and the deceased's younger son Mahbubur Rahman Partha, among others, delivered brief speeches in remembrance of the deceased and seeking forgiveness.
At that time, journalists from Sarishabari Press Club paid floral tributes to the deceased's coffin. Later, he was buried at Sarishabari Central Cemetery.
All journalists at the Sarishabari Press Club expressed deep shock at his death and offered their deepest condolences to the bereaved family.
